ILLUSTRATION

from paper to publication …

Illustration is one part artistic skill and one part technological prowess. My aim with every illustration is to marry the aesthetics of the handwrought with the versatility of the Adobe Creative Suite.

WVU Engineering Wall Art Concept

WVU’s Statler College of Engineering remodeled a section of their facilities and were in need of an attention-grabbing centerpiece that would incorporate the various aspects of engineering sciences. From concept and sketch to CAD layout and fabrication, this piece conveys the breadth of the growing field of engineering, while remaining simple and accessible enough to evoke WVU’s overarching brand. This piece is currently in production and will be installed in 2020.

“Panther Mountain: Lydia’s story”

For her second novel in the pre-Civil War era “Panther Mountain” series, the client requested a cover that would portray the main character of the story and the Appalachian region, while also maintaining the original black and white theme of her first book. The cover design mimics tin-type style photography that was prevalent at that time, with the back cover also referencing quilting patterns from the 1800s.

“schimmert: Journey to silence”

For his WWII-era historical fiction, the client requested a cover design that would illuminate both the turbulent emotions of the time period and the romance at the center of his story. In my original design, I drew on WWII promotional posters as inspiration, creating a timeless illustrated cover with pops of color and oversized type to draw the eye and stand out on a bookstore shelf. The book is now exclusively available on Amazon.

World+LangPosters (1).jpg

wvu world languages poster series

The WVU Department of World Languages was looking for a series of posters to help promote some of their lesser-known courses. By taking a minimal and unorthodox approach, this series stood apart from other marketing collateral showcased around the campus, while still maintaining the WVU brand.

Contact Light - COMMISSIONED artwork

In the process of creating this commissioned fan art, I was tasked with extensive research into the culture and aesthetic of several longstanding fantasy/scifi canons and histories. I was able to combine them seamlessly into one poster-sized piece that spans more than a generation of beloved movie and TV franchises.
